چکیده

Usually it is assumed that all items in a lot are of good quality, but in reality this assumption may not always be pertinent. Thus, the inspection of lots becomes essential in almost all organizations. Moreover, its role becomes more vital when the items are deteriorating in nature. Owing to this fact, this paper investigates the impact of initial inspection on retailer’s pricing and ordering policy for deteriorating items under inflation and permissible delay in payments using discounted cash flow approach over a finite planning horizon. Demand rate is assumed to be a function of selling price. The proposed model jointly optimizes the number of replenishments and price by maximizing the retailer’s total profit. Results have been demonstrated with the help of a numerical example, and sensitivity analyses are also presented to provide managerial insights into practice. DOI: 10.4018/978-1-4666-2473-3.ch010

An inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, delay in payments and time value money

In this paper, Economic Order Quantity ( ) based model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, permissible delay in payments and inflation is proposed. We adopt a time-dependent demand function. Also, the effects of time value of money are studied using the Discounted Cash Flow approach. Moreover, we assume that orders may contain a random proportion of defective items...

Optimal pricing and replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items with backlogging and trade credit under inflation

In this paper we develop an economic order quantity model to investigate the optimal replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and trade credit. Demand rate is a linear function of selling price and decreases negative exponentially with time over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Under these conditions, we model the ret...

Optimal pricing and ordering policy for inflation dependent demand rate under permissible delay in payments

This paper deals with economic ordering policies for deteriorating items with inflation dependent demand rate under permissible delay in payments by considering selling price is necessarily higher than purchasing cost. We obtain optimal cycle time and we show the total cost function is concave for both cases i.e. case I and case II. We then develop an algorithm for a retailer to determine its o...

EOQ Model for Weibull Deteriorating Items with Imperfect Quality, Shortages and Time Varying Holding Cost Under Permissable Delay in Payments

In this paper a deterministic inventory model with imperfect quality have been developed for deteriorating items with two parameters Weibull distribution deterioration and time dependent holding cost. Shortages are allowed and are completely backlogged. The model has been framed to study the items whose deterioration rate increase with time under permissible delay in payments with imperfect qua...

EOQ Model for Deteriorating Items with Exponential Time Dependent Demand Rate under Inflation When Supplier Credit Linked to Order Quantity

In paper (2004) Chang studied an inventory model under a situation in which the supplier provides the purchaser with a permissible delay of payments if the purchaser orders a large quantity. Tripathi (2011) also studied an inventory model with time dependent demand rate under which the supplier provides the purchaser with a permissible delay in payments. This paper is motivated by Chang (2004) ...
